Pembrokeshire Direct Payments seeks a Personal Assistant to support a young man with Cerebral Palsy in Pembrokeshire. The role focuses on friendly, flexible, one-to-one care to help him access community activities and meet his care needs.

The successful candidate will learn his routines, encourage independent living, and help him enjoy gigs, cinema, gym, shopping and other day-to-day activities while ensuring safety and safeguarding at all times.

Responsibilities

• Provide consistent one-to-one support and adapt to meet personal and emotional needs.
• Learn the young man’s routines and follow his wishes exactly.
• Promote independence and support development of independent living skills.
• Support access to activities and social opportunities such as gigs, cinema, gym, shopping and daily activities.
• Encourage participation in new, fun activities to build confidence and satisfaction.
• Develop a reliable, trusting relationship with the client.
• Support access to activities of importance and suitable community groups.
• Engage in outings with physical activities and outdoor experiences.
• Communicate with family and wider support network.
• Provide companionship at home and ensure safety during working hours.
• Carry out reasonable tasks as requested and report safeguarding concerns to the relevant authority.
• Be responsible for contacting GP, Social Worker or Local Authority if medical assistance is needed.
