Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to deliver high-quality care through nutritious meals in our care homes. You will support the chef, serve meals with warmth and respect, maintain kitchen hygiene, and help keep stocks rotated and stored correctly.

Qualifications

NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work toward it.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Kindness, patience and respect when interacting with Residents.

Responsibilities

Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
Serve meals warmly and respectfully in a timely manner.
Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
Monitor and record storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
Support stock rotation and ensure ingredients are stored properly.
Show new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
Wash up and keep the kitchen spotless — even after busy lunch periods.
