Job summary

HC-One is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to support Residents across our Dementia, Nursing, Residential and Specialist care homes. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals, follow recipes, and maintain high standards of cleanliness and food safety in the kitchen.

You’ll need an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation (or be working towards it), good organisational skills, and the ability to follow instructions and record information accurately.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience and a real passion for helping others.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Safeguarding training is required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under the direction of the Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect in a timely and friendly manner.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and on surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures.
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Demonstrate safe use of kitchen equipment to new team members.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless throughout and after shifts.
