Job summary

HC-One is seeking a Kitchen Assistant to join our compassionate team in our dementia, nursing, residential and specialist care homes. You will help prepare and serve nutritious meals, uphold high cleanliness standards, and support residents with kind and respectful service.

The role requires some kitchen experience and a willingness to work toward an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation. You’ll need strong organisational skills and a patient, caring approach to residents and colleagues;

Qualifications

• Previous kitchen experience preferred in care or hospitality settings.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Strong organisational and time-management skills.
• Demonstrates kindness, patience and respect toward residents and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Assist with meal preparation under supervision of a Chef or Cook.
• Serve meals with warmth and respect, in a timely manner.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and surfaces.
• Monitor and record food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers).
• Support stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients.
• Train new team members on kitchen procedures and safety.
• Wash up and keep the kitchen clean after busy periods.
