Job summary

HC-One Ltd. is seeking a compassionate Kitchen Assistant to support meal preparation, serving, and kitchen hygiene in our care homes. You will help ensure nutritious meals, handle storing temperatures, and assist with stock rotation while showing patience and respect to Residents.

Experience in catering is appreciated, with an NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation preferred or a commitment to achieve it. We value kindness as a core part of daily work and teamwork across the kitchen team.

Qualifications

• Some kitchen experience preferred.
• NVQ2 in Catering or Food Preparation or willingness to work towards it.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to follow recipes and record information accurately.
• Demonstrate patience, respect and genuine kindness with Residents.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with meal preparation under supervision of Chef or Cook.
• Serving meals with warmth and respect in a timely, friendly manner.
• Maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, including equipment and surfaces.
• Monitoring and recording food storage temperatures (fridges, freezers, etc.).
• Supporting stock rotation and ensuring ingredients are properly stored.
• Showing new team members how to safely use kitchen equipment.
• Washing up and keeping the kitchen spotless after busy periods.
