Job summary

Care Support in Bedford seeks a Care and Support Worker to assist clients at home within an Extra Care scheme. You will help with daily living, personal care, meals, laundry, and housekeeping, while promoting independence.

Role requires compassionate, reliable team players who can log visits, monitor wellbeing, and follow care plans. Flexibility for weekends/bank holidays is essential; training and PPE provided as per policy.

Qualifications

• No prior experience necessary but willingness to attend induction training and complete the Care Certificate.
• Willingness to seek support and guidance; learn Care Support policies and procedures.
• Able to show basic English and maths skills.
• Willingness to work within a 24/7 care environment and attend training.
• Enhanced Disclosure and Barring check may be required by law.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care to customers in their own homes within an Extra Care environment.
• Assist with daily living activities including personal care as needed.
• Carry out domestic duties: washing, laundry, cleaning, and meal support.
• Promote physical independence and use mobility aids safely.
• Develop rapport and maintain a safe, supportive relationship with service users.
• Support health needs and maintain medication records as required.
• Log visits, complete paperwork, and report changes to the office team.
• Provide end-of-life/palliative care as defined in the care plan.
• Respect confidentiality and comply with Data Protection Act and GDPR.
• Be flexible to cover shifts, weekends and bank holidays; attend training and meetings.
