Job summary

Co‑op is hiring a Funeral Service Crew in Southport. Part-time role 15 hours per week, with shifts Mon-Fri 8am-5pm and on-call weekends, one week in eight. Full training provided and you’ll help families say goodbye with dignity.

You’ll collect the deceased, bear coffins, drive funeral vehicles, prepare coffins, and keep records up to date. A full UK manual driving licence is required, and you’ll work with empathy in a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Full UK manual driving licence
• Ability to perform physical tasks (manual lifting) with provided training and equipment
• Good IT skills and ability to use a range of devices (computers, tablets, smartphones, printers, scanners) and learn new applications
• Ability to stay calm and compassionate in emotional situations with a customer-focused approach
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, ensuring regulatory policies are followed

Responsibilities

• Collect the deceased from a range of locations in a professional and empathetic manner
• Bear coffins on funeral day and drive funeral vehicles
• Maintain the cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles
• Prepare coffins and engrave name plates
• Prepare the deceased in our care for viewings and the funeral
• Maintain client management applications daily, input detailed and timely information to keep records updated
• Safely lift, carry and move coffins following safe techniques and health and safety guidance
