Job summary

CO-OP Funeralcare is recruiting a Funeral Service Crew member on a 12-month fixed term contract in Birmingham to support families and carry out preparation, transportation and care of the deceased with dignity and respect.

No previous funeral industry experience is required as full training is provided; you will join a supportive team, receive a competitive salary, pension, discounts, and access to wellbeing and development benefits.

Qualifications

Full UK manual driving licence
Ability to perform physical aspects of the role
Good IT skills and ability to learn new applications
Calm, compassionate approach in emotional circumstances
Strong attention to detail and accuracy

Responsibilities

Collect the deceased from various locations in a professional and empathetic manner
Bear coffins on the day of the funeral and drive funeral vehicles
Maintain cleanliness of equipment and facilities, including vehicles
Prepare coffins and engrave name plates
Prepare the deceased for viewings and the funeral
Maintain client management applications and keep records up to date
Safely lift, carry and move coffins following safety guidelines
