Job summary

Co-op Group Funeralcare in Ipswich is seeking a caring part-time Funeralcare Assistant to join our team. The role involves direct contact with the deceased as part of duties, with comprehensive training provided to ensure safety and dignity.

You will build relationships with clients, assist with visits and inquiries, maintain a welcoming funeral home environment, and handle basic admin and invoicing using digital systems. A supportive, community-focused role within a trusted co-op.

Qualifications

• Clear written and spoken communication with clients and colleagues.
• Able to perform basic calculations such as cash handling and discounts.
• Meticulous and accurate in following regulatory policies.
• Competent with a range of devices and software systems.
• Demonstrates empathy, discretion and care in all interactions.
• Capable of handling physical tasks (training provided).

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and the community.
• Support clients in person and over the phone, arranging visits and answering questions.
• Ensure the funeral home is clean, safe and welcoming at all times.
• Use digital systems to manage client documentation, funeral arrangements and invoicing.
• Refer regulated work (like funeral plans) to appropriate colleagues.
• Assist with manual handling and preparation of the deceased as required.
• Update client management applications with accurate information.
