Job summary

Bethesda Health Group, at Bethesda Southgate, is seeking a compassionate CNA to provide patient care support under the Charge Nurse’s direction. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, and safety, while carefully documenting in patient records and ensuring correct admission procedures.

Responsibilities include vital signs, rounds, proper lifting techniques, and timely reporting to nursing staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred.
• Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state you will be working.
• CPR certification, or willing to obtain within six months of employment.
• Long-term care experience preferred.
• Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff.
• Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift heavy object using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary.
• Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment.
• Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing or use of tape recorder.
• Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color.

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care support including hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety as directed by Charge Nurse.
• Completes vital signs, height, weight, and documentation in patient records.
• Orientates new resident to the facility and unit; ensures arm band and admission kit are provided.
• Responds promptly to call lights and resident needs; completes rounds as assigned.
• Maintains supplies and equipment, reports needs to Charge Nurse or purchasing.
• Assists with positioning, transfers, and patient mobility.
• Performs procedures and treatments as instructed by Charge Nurse, e.g., Sitz bath, moist packs, isolation techniques.
• Completes reports at shift changes and communicates pertinent information to incoming staff.
• Supports teamwork with nurses and department managers and maintains confidentiality.
