Job summary

Bethesda Health Group is seeking a compassionate Certified Nursing Assistant for patient care support in a facility. You will assist with hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety under the Charge Nurse's guidance.

The role requires accurate documentation, vital signs recording, and patient orientation. You will respond to call lights, participate in rounds, and help with transfers while maintaining safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred
• Active Certified Nurse Assistant certification in the state you will be working
• CPR certification, or willing to obtain within six months of employment
• Long-term care experience preferred
• Excellent communication skills to interact verbally with patients, visitors, and staff
• Ability to manage time and organize daily schedule to meet productivity standards
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
• Ability to lift heavy object using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Ability to transfer and move patients who vary with ability to assist weighing 200+lbs using proper lifting techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Ability to push and pull equipment weighing in excess of 40lbs using proper techniques and with assistance when necessary
• Manual dexterity, coordination and skillful use of hands when working with patients and equipment
• Ability to physically perform necessary documentation in writing or use of tape recorder
• Visual acuity with the ability to distinguish color

Responsibilities

• Provides patient care related support including services relative to hygiene, nutrition, ambulation, elimination, and safety as directed by Charge Nurse per established departmental guidelines.
• Documents appropriately into patient record charting based on skill level and follows established standards and guidelines.
• Upon admission, completes personal belongings sheet, records height, weight, and vital signs, orients new resident to the facility and unit, ensures arm band and admission kit are provided.
• Answers call lights promptly and responds to resident needs throughout duty.
• Completes rounds as assigned and maintains timely turns for repositioning and care.
• Uses slings, braces, or other equipment per physician or therapy orders and ensures proper equipment is in place.
• Measures intake and output on I & O sheets and relays information at shift changes.
• Performs procedures and treatments as instructed (e.g., Sitz bath, moist packs, isolation).
• Maintains supplies and equipment and alerts Charge Nurse or purchasing for needs.
• Ensures charge items are entered correctly.
• Completes CNA duties via continuing education and accepts reassignment to other areas as needed.
• Maintains professional relationships with team, charge nurse, and managers; handles confidential information discreetly.
• Gives report at end of each shift and conducts walking rounds with oncoming/leaving shift; may take on other duties as appropriate.
