Job summary

Darlington Borough Council is seeking a Cemetery and Crematorium Operative in Darlington to join a small, dedicated team delivering a compassionate service. The role covers grave preparation, grounds maintenance, cremator operation and memorial safety inspections, supporting funeral and chapel services.

The successful candidate will be comfortable with outdoor work, machinery, and maintaining high standards while providing sensitive support to bereaved families and visitors.

Qualifications

• Full current driving licence or the ability to obtain one within the first three months of employment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to deal sensitively with families, funeral directors and visitors.
