ESNEFT invites applications for a Community Midwife (Complex Needs) to join the maternity team in Colchester and Clacton, delivering personalised care to women and pregnant people with complex health, social or clinical needs. You will work collaboratively with a wide range of professionals to provide inclusive, compassionate care.

The role requires a registered midwife with strong communication, autonomy and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications

  • Registered Midwife with post-registration experience in maternity care.
  • Experience in community settings with vulnerable caseloads.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality antenatal and postnatal care in community settings.

Are you a compassionate, experienced midwife looking for an opportunity to make a real difference to women and families with complex needs?

We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated Community Midwife (Complex Needs) to join our dedicated maternity team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a midwife who is passionate about providing individualised and inclusive care to women and pregnant people who may experience additional social, emotional, psychological or clinical complexities during pregnancy and the postnatal period.

As a Complex Needs Community Midwife, you will provide personalised midwifery care, working collaboratively with women, families and a wide range of health and social care professionals.

We are looking for a registered midwife who iscompassionate, resilient, non-judgemental and committed to personalised care.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work autonomously, and the confidence to work as part of a multidisciplinary team. Experience of working with women and families experiencing complex social or clinical circumstances would be highly desirable.

Most importantly, you will share our commitment to ensuring that every woman and family feels heard, respected and supported throughout their maternity journey.

Main duties of the job

You will:

  • Provide high-quality, evidence-based antenatal and postnatal care in community settings.
  • Build trusting relationships with women who may have complex health, social or safeguarding needs.
  • Coordinate care with maternity, primary care, mental health, social care and voluntary-sector colleagues.
  • Advocate for women and families and promote informed choice and shared decision-making.
  • Recognise and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and health inequalities.
  • Support women to access appropriate services and improve engagement with maternity care.
  • Contribute to reducing inequalities and improving outcomes for women, babies and families.
  • Work flexibly across community settings, providing care that is responsive to individual needs.

Person specification
Education & Qualifications
  • Registered Midwife
  • Attendance at NLS course
  • Degree level qualification in relevant subject.
  • Child protection training level 3
  • Educated to Masters level
Experience
  • Proven post registration experience as clinical midwife
  • Recent clinical experience in community setting working with vulnerable caseloads.
  • Evidence of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal clinical practice.
  • Evidence of advanced decision making skills.
  • Experience in report writing
Knowledge
  • Has knowledge of clinical midwifery practice to be able to provide specialist advice to mothers and members of multi-agency team.
  • Possesses knowledge of safeguarding and child protection strategy
  • Knowledge of Trust’s safeguarding and child protection strategy
