Job summary

We are seeking a Matron for the Community Clinical Delivery Group (CDG) to lead and inspire our nursing workforce across East Suffolk. This is a unique opportunity to help in shaping the future of community healthcare at a time of significant transformation.

This role offers the opportunity to influence the future of community services through strong clinical leadership, workforce development, quality improvement and partnership working, ensuring safe, effective and integrated care is delivered closer to home.

Main duties of the job

As Matron, you will provide visible professional leadership for the nursing workforce across community services in East Suffolk. You will work in partnership with clinical, operational and system leaders to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate and high-quality care.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading and developing a diverse community nursing workforce.
  • Providing professional nursing leadership across Integrated Neighbourhood Teams and community services.
  • Driving quality, safety, patient experience and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting workforce planning, recruitment, retention and succession planning.
  • Delivering professional standards, governance and assurance.
  • Developing future nursing leaders and creating a positive culture where staff can thrive.
  • Contributing to the strategic development of community services as we continue to expand care closer to home and strengthen neighbourhood-based models of care.

Person specification
Qualifications
  • Evidence of academic pathway equivalent to Degree in Nursing or Health Related study
  • Masters Degree in relation to health management Or equivalent experience that recognises developed and complex levels of knowledge, which enable the development of original responses to complicated and unpredictable problems and situations. Professional training / Learning at this level will need to demonstrate highly developed professional knowledge, which is appropriate for senior professionals / managers
  • Professional nursing qualification
  • Demonstration and evidence of personal professional development
  • Masters Degree or working toward/unit/departments Masters Degree level education
  • Management Leadership Qualification, which has been tested in a management post
  • Degree or Masters Degree in Specialist Practice Nursing in the Home
Experience
  • Proven experience at senior nurse level
  • Experience in current health policy and its impact on the management and development of acute health services
  • Significant experience of effective staff management
  • Providing advice to specialist and non-specialist staff
  • Experience of ability to manage change quickly & effectively
  • Experience of ability to manage and lead nursing team
  • Experience of service redesign and development
  • A proven record of success in managing significant operational change while also developing and maintaining high standards of care
  • Experience of analysing and making judgements involving situations where there are a number of conflicting issues, and where there is no obvious outcome – some of which be conflicting
  • Experience of interpreting national policies and initiatives and implementing these into the workplace
  • Public speaking and presentation skills
  • Evidence of effective working relationships both inside and outside the organisation
  • Experience of working in a community setting
