Job summary

North Lanarkshire Council is seeking an outgoing Library Assistant to join Viewpark Library, delivering a modern service to the community. The role includes Bookbug sessions, Chatterbooks, reader development activities, IT support, frontline customer service and operating library software.

You should be educated to a good general standard with strong interpersonal and customer service skills, good IT ability, and the physical ability to lift stock. PVG membership is required.

Qualifications

• Ability to work with a range of customers and provide friendly service.
• Good IT skills and ability to operate library systems.
• Physical ability to lift and carry stock.
• Interest in books and reading is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver children's activities (Bookbug sessions, Chatterbooks) and reader development activities.
• Support public access to IT and provide frontline customer services.
• Operate library management systems and assist library users.
• Be mobile within North Lanarkshire to travel to other sites if required.
