Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE

As Project Community Coordinator, you will play a central role in connecting Hartlepool residents with their urban forest. You will lead community engagement activities across the town to inspire people to plant, protect, and promote urban trees. This includes coordinating outreach, volunteer initiatives, educational workshops, public planting events, and more.

You’ll split your time between office-based and outdoor work, and should be a confident, organised, and personable communicator—someone comfortable leading workshops and acting as a local spokesperson for the project and urban forestry.

Building strong relationships with volunteers and community groups is key to this role’s success, and you’ll be supported by the Project Manager and other partners across the region. You will also represent our client and the wider partnership across the Tees Valley area.

This flagship initiative is a key part of our client’s strategic direction, and your work will help demonstrate the importance of addressing Tree Equity at both local and national levels.

This project is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

ABOUT OUR CLIENT

Our client is a national charity focused on planting, protecting, and promoting urban trees. They are the only UK organisation dedicated exclusively to urban forestry and suit passionate, driven individuals who want to make a tangible difference in urban environments.

This role is ideal for candidates who want to drive positive change in communities most in need of green interventions. While the position spans both project management and advocacy skills, applicants with stronger experience in one area are encouraged to apply—support and training will be provided.

You will join a high-performing and supportive team, with access to development opportunities and mentorship from a Senior Leadership Team with a mix of commercial, environmental, and non-profit backgrounds.

Our client is committed to equal opportunities, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of its work. Full details of the Equal Opportunities Policy are available upon request.
