Job summary

Company Shop Group in Grimsby invites applications for a Community Chef Educator to lead our Community Kitchen initiatives. You will produce freshly cooked, nutritious meals and deliver engaging community programmes that respond to local needs.

Working with internal and external partners you will demonstrate leadership, train and motivate staff, manage resources and uphold health, safety & environmental policies while driving social impact across the site at Wootton Rd, Nunsthorpe.

Qualifications

Strong culinary background required.
NVQ level 2 in Catering (or similar qualifications) requested.
Food hygiene level 2 or above required.
Knowledge of HACCP is essential.

Responsibilities

Lead and deliver Community Kitchen’s culinary development programmes.
Drive social impact and engage local communities through activities.
Train and develop team; support cross-functional collaboration across departments.
Uphold Health, Safety & Environmental policies at all times.
Build partnerships with external organisations to maximise social benefits to local people and members.
Ensure effective management of resources and kitchen operations.

About the role

Community Kitchen is seeking a dedicated Chef Educator to lead our culinary initiatives and drive positive change within our Grimsby store.

You will need to be able to think on your feet and use your culinary expertise to produce freshly cooked, nutritious meals. But also, it is essential that you will be confident and supportive in the delivery of our Community Kitchen programmes and community-based initiatives that align in response to your community’s needs. You will need to be ready and willing to create positive changes in our members and to question and rethink concepts, assumptions and practises.

Working closely with internal and external stakeholders you will be able to demonstrate your leadership, initiative and ability to work effectively in a capacity that reflects Community shop’s values.

Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

Ability to work with the various challenges of daily changing, surplus food stocks and be able to create nutritious meals.
Lead and deliver Community Kitchen’s Social Impact and culinary development programmes including the promotion and support of local communities through engaging activities.
Assist retail and hub in driving membership to broaden Community Kitchen’s Social Impact.
The delivery of in-house training and development programmes
Work closely with other organisations in the wider not-for-profit, social enterprise, public and private sectors – with the aim of taking forward new social impact opportunities that maximise the synergistic and financial benefits of joint working to benefit local people and members.
Build understanding within the social sector and beyond Community Shop to help in the development of our social impact, business offer.
Ensure that all Health, Safety & Environmental policies and practises are upheld
Engage your team both within your department and within other departments to support cross functional and positive working relationships
Employ a supportive and high performing culture with consistent delivery, through excellent leadership and motivation, that fully utilises and develops your teams’ skills and capabilities
Keep up to date with information relevant to your department and cascade this accordingly to your wider department teams.
