Job summary

Greene King is seeking an External Communications Lead to shape and protect our reputation across business performance, sustainability and community initiatives. You will provide expert counsel to the Executive Board and Leadership Group, and oversee proactive and reactive external communications.

You will manage crisis communications, lead the 24/7 press office and coordinate with external agencies to deliver a cohesive corporate narrative across Greene King’s brands.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in corporate communications, public relations or media relations.
• Strong media relations expertise and experience managing high-profile press office activity.
• Proven crisis communications experience with ability to manage reputational risk.
• Experience supporting complex business change programmes and communicating with diverse stakeholders.
• Excellent influencing and relationship-building skills to advise senior leaders and executives.

• Lead and oversee our 24/7 reactive press office, ensuring robust processes, governance and responses that protect Greene King's reputation.

• Partner with senior stakeholders, including the Executive Board and Leadership Group, to provide communications guidance and support when representing Greene King externally.
• Manage external agencies and oversee divisional PR activity, ensuring a cohesive, integrated approach to communications across the business.

Job Description

As External Communications Lead, you will play a critical role in promoting and protecting Greene King’s reputation. Leading our corporate communications strategy, reactive press office and external PR activity, you’ll ensure Greene King is positioned as a leading business both within and beyond the hospitality sector. Working closely with senior leaders, including the Executive Board and Leadership Group, you’ll provide expert communications counsel, navigate complex reputational challenges and drive a joined‑up approach to external communications across the business.
