Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Communication Support Assistant for a SEN Primary School in Bury. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication needs, helping them engage with lessons and the wider school environment.

Are you passionate about helping children find their voice, build confidence and engage with learning?

We are looking for a Communication Support Assistant to join a welcoming SEN primary school in Bury, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs and helping them communicate, connect and thrive in the classroom.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is patient, compassionate and confident building positive relationships with children who may communicate in different ways.

The Role

As a Communication Support Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication and additional needs.
  • Help children engage with lessons, activities and the wider school environment.
  • Adapt your communication and support to suit individual pupils.
  • Build trusting relationships and encourage pupils to develop their confidence and independence.
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN team to provide consistent support.
  • Support pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviour, using a calm and positive approach.
What We're Looking For

You don't necessarily need previous experience in exactly the same role. We are interested in candidates with transferable experience, including those who have worked in:

  • SEN or mainstream schools
  • Nurseries or early years
  • Care or support work
  • Autism or complex-needs settings
  • Speech and language support
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Residential or community support

Most importantly, you'll be patient, reliable, resilient and genuinely passionate about making a difference to children's lives.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
