Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a Communication Support Assistant for a SEN Primary School in Bury. The role involves 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication needs, helping them engage with lessons and the wider school environment.

You will adapt your communication to individual pupils and work closely with teachers to provide consistent support. Successful candidates will be patient, reliable and committed to helping children build confidence and independence.

Qualifications

• Experience in SEN or mainstream schools is helpful.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting welfare of children.
• Willingness to undertake DBS checks and safeguarding training.

Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with communication and additional needs.
• Help children engage with lessons and the wider school environment.
• Adapt communication and support to suit individual pupils.
• Build trusting relationships and encourage pupils to develop confidence and independence.
• Work closely with teachers and SEN team to provide consistent support.
• Support pupils who may display challenging or distressed behaviour with a calm approach.
