Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a reliable Commis Chef to support both kitchen and front-of-house tasks in a fast-paced environment. You will assist with food preparation, washing, serving customers, till duties, and day-to-day catering tasks.

The role emphasizes teamwork, a positive attitude, and flexibility. Catering or hospitality experience is welcome but not essential, with training provided.

Qualifications

• Commercial kitchen experience is highly valued but not essential.
• A basic Catering & Hospitality certificate (Food Handling) is desirable but can be provided.
• Must have basic knife skills, food preparation and time management.
• Ability to stand for extended periods is often necessary due to the physical nature of the job.
• Right to Work in the UK; City & Guilds/BTEC/NVQ at a basic level is required; Level 2 food hygiene desirable.

Responsibilities

• Measuring, peeling, chopping, and mixing ingredients.
• Processing kitchen deliveries, ensuring workstation has ingredients and equipment.
• Stock rotation: check expiration dates and discard expired food, recording wastage.
• Assisting with preparation of salads, vegetables, starters, mains and bakery items.
• Maintain kitchen cleanliness and organisation, following food safety standards.
