Job summary

Avery Healthcare is seeking a warm, enthusiastic Commis Chef to support the Chef de Partie at Edenbridge Manor Care Home in Kent. You will assist with food preparation across vegetables, fish, meat and sauces, typically on a six-month rotation, helping deliver nutritious meals to residents with dignity and care.

Ideal candidates hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ, a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate, and at least 1 year of catering experience.

Qualifications

• Hold a catering qualification such as City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or NVQ or equivalent.
• Hold Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
• Have a minimum of 1-year catering experience.
• Demonstrate compassion and commitment to the delivery of high-quality culinary services to residents.
• Be adaptive and flexible to cover a range of responsibilities at short notice.

Responsibilities

• Supporting all chefs to manage and deliver all catering services throughout the home, ensuring resident choice, dignity, confidentiality, and safety are maintained.
• Participating in meetings with residents and Heads of Departments to discuss and agree on catering functions across the home and address residents' special needs or dietary requirements. This must include knowledge of cultural and religious preferences.
• Preparing nutritional food and beverages to a high standard, as directed by the Chefs, promptly and in accordance with agreed mealtimes.
• Preparing special diet meals as needed and as directed by the Chefs.
