Job summary

Wallace Hind LLP in Reading is seeking an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician to join our engineering team. Your role will be to keep our fleet of buses safe and on the road, inspecting, repairing and maintaining to a high standard.

You will diagnose faults, perform preventative maintenance, record work, and follow safety procedures in a busy workshop. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is preferred; IRTEC exam may be required during probation.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs.
• Commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship.
• If NVQ is not held, pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during probation.

We’re looking for experienced Commercial Vehicle Technicians to join our engineering team at our Reading depot, keeping our fleet safe, reliable and on the road. BASIC SALARY

Day shift : £44,000 / Late Shift : £65,500

JOB DESCRIPTION

Commercial Vehicle Technician – Buses, Automotive

Your primary responsibility as our Commercial Vehicle Technician will be to keep our fleet of buses safe and on the road, inspecting, repairing and maintaining our buses to a high standard.

• Record faults and the work performed to fix them
• Follow all safety instructions and procedures
• Report any issues promptly and accurately
• Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment
• Ensure all work is completed to the required engineering and safety standards

Shift Patterns

• Day Shift : Monday – Friday, alternating two-week shift pattern of 8am – 4pm & 6am – 2pm
• Late Shift : 4 on / 4 off , 3pm – 2am

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Ideally, you will possess at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles, or an equivalent international qualification.

• Have a proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles
• Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
• Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Have a strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship

If you don’t have an NVQ qualification, you’ll need to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six-month probation period.
