Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is partnering with a Berkshire-based transport client to recruit a Commercial Vehicle Technician for our Reading depot. You will inspect, repair and maintain a fleet of buses to keep them safe and on the road.

The role offers day and late shifts with strong progression possibilities and exposure to Earned Recognition standards. NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is preferred, with IRTEC exam if not held, and a commitment to high safety and quality.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 in maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or equivalent international qualification.
• Experience repairing/maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles.
• IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam if NVQ not held.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults.
• Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs as required.
• Record faults and the work performed to fix them.
• Follow all safety instructions and procedures.
• Report issues promptly and accurately.
• Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment.
• Ensure work meets engineering and safety standards.

We're looking for experienced Commercial Vehicle Technicians to join our engineering team at our Reading depot, keeping our fleet safe, reliable and on the road. BASIC SALARY:

Day shift : £44,000

Late Shift : £65,500

JOB DESCRIPTION: Commercial Vehicle Technician - Buses, Automotive

Your primary responsibility as our Commercial Vehicle Technician will be to keep our fleet of buses safe and on the road, inspecting, repairing and maintaining our buses to a high standard.

• Ensure all work is completed to the required engineering and safety standards

Shift Patterns:

• Day Shift : Monday - Friday, alternating two-week shift pattern of 8am - 4pm & 6am - 2pm
• Late Shift : 4 on / 4 off , 3pm - 2am

PERSON SPECIFICATION: Commercial Vehicle Technician - Buses, Automotive

Ideally, you will possess at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles, or an equivalent international qualification.

• Have a proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles
• Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
• Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Have a strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship

If you don't have an NVQ qualification, you'll need to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six-month probation period.
