Job summary

Wallace Hind Selection is seeking an experienced Commercial Vehicle Technician for our Reading depot. You will inspect, repair and maintain our bus fleet to keep services safe and on the road, diagnosing both mechanical and electronic faults and performing preventative maintenance.

You will record faults, follow safety procedures, and report issues promptly, contributing to a compliant and efficient workshop environment with shift patterns including day and late shifts.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in maintenance and repair of PSV/HGV vehicles.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems.
• Proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair and maintain our fleet of buses to a high standard.
• Diagnose mechanical and electronic faults and carry out preventative maintenance.
• Record faults and the work performed, following safety instructions and procedures.
• Report issues promptly and accurately and contribute to a safe workshop environment.

We’re looking for experienced Commercial Vehicle Technicians to join our engineering team at our Reading depot, keeping our fleet safe, reliable and on the road. BASIC SALARY:

Day shift : £44,000 / Late Shift : £65,500

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Commercial Vehicle Technician - Buses, Automotive

Your primary responsibility as our Commercial Vehicle Technician will be to keep our fleet of buses safe and on the road, inspecting, repairing and maintaining our buses to a high standard.

In addition to this you will;

• Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults
• Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs as required
• Record faults and the work performed to fix them
• Follow all safety instructions and procedures
• Report any issues promptly and accurately
• Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment
• Ensure all work is completed to the required engineering and safety standards

Shift Patterns:

• Day Shift : Monday - Friday, alternating two-week shift pattern of 8am - 4pm & 6am - 2pm
• Late Shift : 4 on / 4 off , 3pm - 2am

PERSON SPECIFICATION:

Commercial Vehicle Technician - Buses, Automotive

Ideally, you will possess at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles, or an equivalent international qualification.

In addition to this you will:

• Have a proven track record in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles
• Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electrical vehicle systems
• Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Have a strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship

If you don't have an NVQ qualification, you'll need to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six-month probation period.
