Job summary

TipTopJob is recruiting for a PSV/HGV Technician at our Reading depot. You will inspect, repair and maintain buses to a high standard, diagnosing faults and carrying out preventative maintenance while documenting work on a tablet.

We seek hard-working, self-starting individuals with a passion for heavy vehicle engineering. A strong safety focus and teamwork are essential in this award-winning engineering department.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in PSV/HGV maintenance or equivalent required.
• Five years’ experience in repairing and maintaining PSV/HGV vehicles also acceptable.
• Ability to provide evidence of your qualification from the awarding body.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

Job Title: PSV / HGV Technician

Location: Reading

Salary: GBP29+ per hour, depending on shift pattern

Job Type: Full time, Permanent. Monday:Friday days 8am : 4pm/6am : 2pm and late shift 4 on 4 off 3pm : 2am.

We are looking for PSV / HGV Technicians to join our engineering team at our Reading depot.

We want hard:working, self:starting individuals with a passion for repairing and maintaining heavy:duty vehicles. You will play an important role in ensuring our bus fleet is maintained to a high standard and operates safely and reliably.

Youll be joining an award:winning department that is a founder member of the DVSAs Earned Recognition scheme.

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced PSV / HGV technicians, mechanics and vehicle engineers looking to develop their career within a professional and supportive engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect, repair, and maintain our buses to a high standard
• Investigate and diagnose mechanical and electronic faults
• Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs as required
• Record faults and the work performed to fix them using a tablet
• Follow all safety instructions and procedures
• Report any issues promptly and accurately
• Contribute to a safe, compliant and efficient workshop environment
• Ensure all work is completed to the required engineering and safety standards

Shift Patterns

Positions are available across a range of shift patterns, including:

• Monday : Friday day shift: Alternating two:week shift pattern of 8am : 4pm and 6am : 2pm
• 4 on / 4 off late shift: 3pm : 2am

The rate of pay will be determined by the rota you work on, with rates of GBP29+ per hour available.

Experience And Qualifications

Our ideal candidates will:

• Possess at least an NVQ Level 2 qualification in the maintenance and repair of public service vehicles or heavy goods vehicles, or an equivalent international qualification
• OR have at least five years experience in repairing and maintaining public service or heavy goods vehicles
• Be able to provide evidence of relevant experience where the five:year experience route is being used
• Provide evidence of your qualification from the awarding body
• Have a strong understanding of mechanical and electronic vehicle systems
• Be confident diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs
• Have a strong commitment to safety and high standards of workmanship
• Be hard:working, self:starting and able to work effectively as part of a team

If you dont have an NVQ qualification, youll need to pass the IRTEC Service Maintenance Technician exam during your six:month probation period.

While not essential, having a PCV licence would be a great advantage.
