Job summary

HPR TALENT LIMITED in Plymouth is seeking an experienced commercial vehicle technician for their brand-new in-house workshop. You’ll service light commercials, diagnose faults and carry out inspections as part of a growing fleet team.

You’ll join a hands-on workshop led by managers who value people, with no weekends and optional overtime. A full UK driving licence and NVQ Level 3 are required; air-con certification is a bonus.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a vehicle technician.
• NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent diagnostics to find and fix the real fault.

Responsibilities

• Servicing, maintenance and repairs on light commercial vehicles.
• Diagnostics and fault-finding using Texa and Bosch equipment.
• Inspections and scheduled maintenance to keep the fleet safe and compliant.
• Occasional breakdown repairs in the field with company van.
• Accurate job cards and inspection reports on a tablet.
• Work both independently and as part of a team.

Job description

Our client is a well-established civil engineering and drainage specialist with decades of experience delivering major infrastructure projects across the South-West. Their fleet is growing, and so is their brand-new, in-house vehicle workshop in Plymouth. Thats created a new role for an experienced commercial vehicle technician.

Youll join a team of technicians covering both LCVs and HGVs, with a real mix of experience, from long-serving hands to newly qualified technicians. The workshop is run by managers who came up through the tools themselves. Theyre down to earth, good fun to work with and genuinely look after their people.

Youll work with state-of-the-art equipment, looking after the light commercial side of the fleet. Its a fleet youll get to know properly, not an endless queue of strangers vehicles.

The Role

• Servicing, maintenance and repairs on Ford Transits, Peugeot Boxers and other light commercials
• Diagnostics and fault-finding, both mechanical and electrical, using Texa and Bosch equipment
• Inspections and scheduled maintenance, keeping the fleet safe, compliant and on the road
• Occasional breakdown repairs across the South-West, always in your company van and never your own car
• Accurate job cards, service records and inspection reports on a tablet
• Working both independently and collaboratively within a team, able to share ideas and knowledge

About You

• At least 5 years experience as a vehicle technician. Youll be trusted to work on your own from day one.
• NVQ Level 3 (or City & Guilds equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Excellent diagnostics. You find the real fault and fix it properly, not just enough to get the vehicle out of the door.
• A commercial main dealer background (Ford, Peugeot, Volvo, Iveco or similar) is ideal. Large in-house fleet workshops will also be considered.
• A structured, safety-first approach. You follow the procedure, do it by the book and do it right first time. Quick fixes and workarounds arent how this workshop runs.
• A full UK driving licence.
• Air con certification is a bonus.
