Job summary

The Methodist Church in Britain is seeking an experienced vehicle technician to maintain the council's commercial fleet. The role involves hands-on repair and preventative maintenance in the operations depot workshop.

You'll carry out technical work on commercial vehicles and waste collection vehicles with training provided, and you will need a recognised apprenticeship, City and Guilds motor vehicle qualifications and a Class 2 HGV licence.

Qualifications

• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent
• City and Guilds Parts 1, 2 and 3 in Motor Vehicle Technology
• HGV/LGV Class 2 licence
• Strong commercial vehicle background
• Pre-employment checks, including DBS, safeguarding training and references
• Nice to have: experience on waste collection vehicles

Job description

This role sits within the Council's in-house fleet maintenance team, keeping its commercial vehicles running to a high standard. The work is hands-on technical repair and maintenance, with some waste collection vehicle work where training is given. Applicants need a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent, City and Guilds motor vehicle qualifications and an HGV Class 2 licence, and should expect Monday to Friday hours with flexibility.
