Commercial Trading Underwriter - Salary between £40,000 and £60,000

We currently have an opportunity for an experienced Commercial Trading Underwriter to join our UK-wide Delegated Authority/Schemes team.

As an Underwriter in this team, you will be responsible for servicing brokers with delegated authority for specific commercial insurance schemes. This role involves managing business relationships and being the main contact for referrals outside the broker’s delegated authority.

You will work closely with brokers and customers to understand their needs, leveraging data and insights to improve performance and profitability, and collaborate with brokers to enhance efficiencies and growth.

This role is suitable for an experienced underwriter from a broker or insurer background who is passionate about developing their career and nurturing mutually beneficial relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide technical referral support for brokers and lower license holders, reflecting our underwriting strategy and customer/broker value.
• Monitor overall Delegated Authority Schemes performance and contribute to Aviva’s strategy.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to Delegation of Underwriting authority.
• Manage changes to Delegated Authority Schemes, including documentation, underwriting guides, pricing, and wordings.
• Identify profitable development areas within individual schemes.

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience within Commercial Motor and/or Commercial Property & Liability underwriting.
• Strong relationship management skills.
• Ability to handle complex risks and technical referrals, mentoring junior team members.
• Excellent risk analysis, communication, and presentation skills.
• Confident in leading and challenging broker partners to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
