Job summary

Waste King Limited is seeking a Commercial Operations Manager to drive the company’s £20 million revenue ambition. You will join the Senior Management Team, shaping commercial strategy, strengthening operational capability and guiding growth toward sustainable profitability.

You’ll influence senior stakeholders, challenge existing processes and translate data into decisions that deliver measurable results. This is a senior, influential role with autonomy to shape the company’s commercial model

Job description

Waste King is an ambitious, growing waste management and recycling business with a clear objective: achieve £20 million in revenue by March 2029. We're looking for a commercially astute, strategically minded Commercial Operations Manager to help turn that ambition into reality. Joining the Senior Management Team, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the company's commercial strategy, strengthening operational capability and ensuring growth translates into sustainable profitability. This is a senior, influential position offering the opportunity to drive business-wide improvements and help shape the next stage of Waste King's development.

• Driving growth: Develop and implement commercial and operational plans to support the £20m revenue objective.
• Improving profitability: Strengthen pricing, margin control, commercial governance and cost recovery across customers and services.
• Planning for growth: Align sales pipeline, customer demand, fleet capacity, workforce requirements and supplier capability.
• Building business cases: Assess investment opportunities across vehicles, systems, people, premises and new service propositions.
• Leading improvement: Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve efficiency, service delivery, vehicle utilisation and overall business performance.
• Influencing strategy: Provide clear commercial analysis and recommendations to support senior-level decision-making.

You’re a commercially driven leader who understands how to connect business growth with operational delivery and financial performance. You’ll be comfortable challenging existing processes, influencing senior stakeholders and turning data into decisions that deliver measurable results.

You’ll bring:

• Significant experience in commercial management, general management or a similar senior role within an operationally focused business.
• A track record of improving profitability, commercial performance and business capability.
• Strong financial, analytical and business planning skills.
• Experience leading cross-functional projects, developing investment cases and implementing change.
• The ability to balance strategic thinking with practical, hands-on delivery.

Experience in waste management, recycling, logistics, transport or environmental services would be particularly valuable. Knowledge of fleet economics, disposal networks, waste compliance and operational systems would also be advantageous.

This is more than a traditional commercial management role. You’ll have the influence and autonomy to help shape Waste King's commercial model, strengthen its operational infrastructure and play a central part in achieving its ambitious growth plans.

Package: £55,000-£65,000 basic salary, performance bonus of up to 10%, company pension and standard benefits. A company car or allowance may be considered.

Location: Cheddington, Hertfordshire, with travel to customer and supplier sites as required. Full-time, permanent, Monday to Friday.
