Mears Group in Birmingham is seeking a Commercial Officer to help maintain commercial control and deliver accurate reporting across housing maintenance contracts.
You will focus on cost control, quality and compliance, and support the Commercial & General Manager while developing Commercial Assistants in a collaborative, high-performing team.
Annual salary: up to £40,000.00
We’re seeking a highly motivated Commercial Officer to join our dedicated team based in the Birmingham office. In this key role, you’ll support the Commercial & General Manager in maintaining strong commercial control and delivering accurate reporting across our housing property contracts. You’ll be responsible for upholding high standards of commercial activity, with a clear focus on cost control, quality, and compliance. Your expertise will help drive best-in-class commercial practices, ensuring value for money while maintaining our commitment to excellent customer service and safety. In addition, you’ll manage and develop Commercial Assistants within the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Support the Commercial & General Manager in maintaining commercial control and accurate reporting across housing maintenance contracts
Uphold high standards of commercial activity with a focus on cost control, quality, and compliance
Drive best-in-class commercial practices to ensure maximum value recovery and accurate cost control and excellent customer service
Support administrative tasks across local operations and internal departments
Record and respond to client and service user communications in a timely and professional manner
Manage materials requisitions, purchase orders, and invoicing processes efficiently
Input cost data to enable timely completion and billing of work orders
Communicate with service users regarding ongoing works, ensuring clarity and responsiveness
Liaise with colleagues to ensure accurate and timely information is shared across teams
Maintain company assets in line with policy and report any damages or issues promptly
Attend meetings and training sessions as required to support continuous development
Uphold high standards of professionalism, health & safety, and customer care in all aspects of the role
Support the commercial quantity surveyors with pricing and commercial practice

To drive a Mears vehicle, you must be aged over 21 have held your licence over 3 months and have less than 9 points.
