Commercial Manager – UK Grocery Retail Startup

About the Role:

We're looking for a commercially minded, strategic, and hands-on individual to join our fast-growing grocery retail startup in the UK. This role is perfect for someone who understands product sourcing, pricing, and supplier management — and who thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments.

You’ll work closely with the founding team to shape our commercial strategy from the ground up. It’s a unique opportunity to have a real impact in the early stages of an ambitious business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and select grocery products with strong commercial potential, balancing quality, price point, and customer demand
  • Build and maintain supplier relationships — managing sourcing, negotiations, and ongoing performance
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies to drive category performance and optimize margins
  • Oversee the full supply chain — from coordinating deliveries and managing shelf life to ensuring effective in-store execution
  • Lead product rollouts for new stores and category launches, ensuring all commercial and operational details are covered
  • Own daily operations — including supplier negotiations, resolving delivery issues, and addressing unexpected challenges
  • Operate with initiative, drive, and a strong sense of ownership — this role is for someone who embraces responsibility and momentum

Candidate Profile:

  • Strong commercial instincts, with experience in grocery retail (either startup or established company)
  • Proven track record of managing supplier relationships and negotiating favorable terms
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and adapting in a fast-evolving environment
  • Effective working cross-functionally, solving problems, and delivering measurable outcomes
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and hands-on
  • Familiarity with the UK grocery market, especially in or around London
