I am working with a Masonry Contractor based in Essex specialising in Brickwork and Stonework for New Build and Heritage projects, who are looking for a commercial manager to join their ranks!

This is an exciting opportunity that would suit a Quantity Surveyor who is well versed in their trade who is hungry for progression and recognition in all that they do. This would suit someone who wants to work their way up to directorship, and can utilize their commercial acumen to help the business grow, with individual growth mutually assured!

What is the vision for how you fit into the company and what you can help achieve?

• Develop and lead a commercial team as the company continues to grow, including interviewing and training potential staff.

• Applying your previous experience to enhance and improve internal cost reporting/CVR procedures for individual projects, as well as establishing a master file that incorporates all cost information for each project as a company-wide CVR.

• Developing a new streamlined commercial system that allows all important documents and systems to be integrated for optimised processes and delivery.

• Utilising your knowledge and experience for developing relationships with main contractors and using your outreach to get added to new supply chains.

What will your day to day look like?

• Plan and deliver all commercial, estimating and procurement duties, working with relevant parties to assist in the formation of a design and project delivery strategy, ensuring that this is also adhered to by members of our team.

• Where required, ensure external design works are completed by trained and experienced teams

• E nsure said works are managed correctly and itemised accurately for installation

• Attend commercial and design meetings, and where required chair meetings.

• Keep track of all scope changes and ensure that the change control process and technical query process

• Always maintaining and delivering the highest level of quality of work

• Maintaining sustainable use of materials and manufacture of bespoke materials wherever possible.

• Be practically minded, self-motivated, reliable, able to organise workload and meet deadlines.

• Develop an in-depth knowledge of relevant British Standards / Eurocodes and Building Regulation.
