Position: Commercial Lead – IT and Digital

Location: Kingston upon Thames (Hybrid Working)

Type: Permanent

30 days annual leave entitlement

Initially, 4 days a week in the office, reducing to 1 day a week. Post-probation, twice a month in the office, subject to service/corporate needs.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Lead the development and implementation of a comprehensive Digital & IT Service Plan and Category Strategy.
• Drive complex procurement processes and contract negotiations across various IT and digital services.
• Act as the subject matter expert for all IT commissioning and supplier engagement.
• Ensure digital contracts and services provide value for money, measurable impact, and continuous improvement.
• Shape the approach to market engagement, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and opportunities.
• Provide mentoring and support to colleagues, building commercial and commissioning capabilities.
• Deputise for the Commercial Manager – Digital & IT as required.

Skills & Experience

• Strong background in IT procurement, contract management, and commercial leadership within complex or public service settings.
• Proven ability to navigate procurement legislation, frameworks, and best practices in commissioning.
• Commercial acumen and expertise in IT supplier markets, risk evaluation, and value assurance.
• Experience leading supplier relationship management and contract performance.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive, collaborative approach.
• CIPS Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in IT purchasing or contract negotiation).
