Role Overview
Commercial Leads manage portfolios across multiple categories, taking the lead on specific categories such as aviation, uniform, drones, etc. This flexible approach promotes equitable workload distribution and agility within the team.
You will be responsible for delivering maximum value through commercial activities, influencing strategy, and stakeholder management. Collaborating with stakeholders, advising on procurement, and supporting procurement and contract management activities are key parts of this role. You will also support senior management with data-driven, evidence-based decisions.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- Providing commercial support for planning, implementation, and monitoring of initiatives.
- Preparing strategic plans, facilitating delivery, and making recommendations to stakeholders, ensuring compliance with procurement regulations and policies.
- Leading contract and supplier management, including supply chain improvement projects and negotiations.
- Evaluating complex tenders and proposals for goods and services.
- Developing commercial options with stakeholders and gaining commitment throughout the commercial lifecycle.
- Building effective relationships with stakeholders and partners.
- Managing stakeholder relationships professionally, facilitating change, and mitigating risks.
- Using financial tools to evaluate options and ensure accurate reflection of data in plans.
- Ensuring compliance with legal, regulatory, and security requirements, incorporating diversity, equality, and social value considerations.
- Leading sourcing processes to meet stakeholder requirements with optimal commercial terms.
- Performing other duties as directed by your line manager.
Qualifications & Accreditations
- CIPS Level 4 qualification and/or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a commercial environment.
- Willingness to work towards Government Commercial Function (GCF) accreditation to Commercial Lead level.
Experience & Knowledge
- Experience in public or private sector procurement, including familiarity with relevant regulations and legislation.
- Experience in sourcing, managing contracts, and implementing change management models.
- Proven success in managing the full commercial cycle.
