Commercial Director

Location: Midlands – Hybrid

Reporting To: Managing Director

A leading design and build contractor, part of a full-service engineering group, is seeking an experienced Commercial Director to drive growth and strategy.

About the Company

Our client specialises in HVAC solutions for multiple live manufacturing environments (including Food & Beverage, Automotive, and Manufacturing), and is known for quality, sustainability, and direct client relationships.

The Role

This is a senior leadership position focused on commercial strategy, business development, and financial management, with key responsibilities including:

Strategic & Commercial Leadership:

  1. Develop and implement commercial strategy to drive revenue and profitability.
  2. Identify market opportunities and expand service offerings.
  3. Oversee financial forecasting, cost control, and contract negotiations.

Business Development & Client Engagement:

  1. Secure new contracts and maintain strong client relationships.
  2. Lead tendering, bidding, and supplier partnerships.
  3. Provide tailored solutions to clients’ operational challenges.

Leadership & Team Development:

  1. Mentor and develop high-performing sales and commercial teams.
  2. Implement training programmes and support daily operations.

The Ideal Candidate:

  1. Extensive experience of selling complex HVAC, MEP solutions into live manufacturing environments.
  2. Strong understanding of design, engineering, and installation processes.
  3. Proven success in business development and commercial strategy.
  4. Expertise in financial management, contract negotiation, and risk mitigation.
  5. Inspirational leader with excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Location: Office based in the West Midlands, but role will effectively be field based with 1 or 2 days in office a week.
