Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Commercial Director to lead and develop our business in the UK & Eire region, ideally with previous board level experience. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commercial acumen, a proven track record in flexible packaging sales, business development, and the ability to drive growth through innovative strategies.
As a Commercial Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the commercial operations team management, developing key customer relationships, and driving revenue generation across multiple sectors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Instrumental in the development and execution of the commercial strategy for the UK & Eire region to achieve sustainable growth and profitability.
- Live and promote the values & behaviours in all business activities.
- Work closely with the senior management team to align commercial objectives with company-wide goals.
- Monitor industry trends, market developments, and competitor activities to identify new business opportunities.
- Sales & Business Development:
- Drive sales growth and market share expansion by developing and executing a comprehensive sales strategy.
- Identify and establish relationships with key strategic partners and clients.
- Lead high-performing sales teams to meet and exceed revenue targets.
- Management and delivery of own key account sales.
- Customer Relationship Management:
- Cultivate strong, long-term relationships with key customers and partners, acting as the primary point of contact for major accounts.
- Proactively maintain strong customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- Prepare and manage budgets with your commercial team.
- Monitor performance metrics and KPIs to ensure business objectives are being met.
- Oversee pricing strategies and margins to maximize profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.
- Marketing:
- Collaborate with the Marketing Manager to drive brand awareness and implement effective marketing campaigns in the UK & Eire region.
- Lead, motivate, and mentor your commercial team, fostering a collaborative and performance-oriented culture.
- Provide ongoing training and development opportunities to ensure the team is equipped with the skills to succeed.
- Proactively build inter team relationships & learnings.
- Reporting & Insights:
- Provide regular updates on regional performance, including market insights, sales forecasts, and business performance analysis.
- Drive continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making and performance analysis.
Required Experience:
- Proven experience as a Commercial Director, Sales Director, or equivalent leadership role within flexible packaging or relevant industry (manufacturer, converter or machinery supply).
- Strong understanding of commercial functions including sales, marketing, NPD, procurement and customer relationship management.
- Demonstrated success in driving revenue growth and leading cross-functional teams.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
- Ability to build relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external.
- A full driving licence with the ability to travel, including overseas as required.
- Strong numeracy skills and proficient in the use of Excel and Microsoft Office applications and use of CRM systems.
- Credibility with both suppliers and customers within the sector.
- Previous board level experience preferred
