Main Purpose of the Role: To be one of the first points of contact for visitors, staff and pupils visiting Brighton College, as well as on-site residents, on call officers and the nursing team. For this role excellent communication skills, whilst being able to manage situations in a calm manner, are essential. While it is desirable for candidates to already hold an SIA Door Supervisor licence, it is not essential. Those without the qualification will complete the course as part of their mandatory training.
We are looking for College Protection Officers to join our team on a full-time or part-time basis.
Full-time opportunities: 40 hours per week (Monday to Sunday) on a rota system between the hours of 06:30 and 23:00. This will be five out of seven days per week, including some weekends and bank holidays. Depending on the shift worked within the rota system, the actual hours worked in a week may be greater or less than 40. However, when averaged over the rota period (currently seven weeks) hours worked will not be more than 40 per week.
Part-time opportunities: 24 hours per week on a rota system that runs between the hours of 06:30 and 23:00 Monday to Sunday. This will be three out of seven days per week, including some weekends and bank holidays.
Flexibility with regard to working hours is essential whether full-time or part-time. Overtime, at generous rates outside of core hours, is available on occasion.
The full-time holiday entitlement is 23 days, plus bank holidays increasing to 28 days plus bank holidays after 2 years of service (of which 3 days need to be taken between Christmas and New Year when the College is closed). This entitlement would be pro-rata'd for part-time roles.
