Job summary

ABM is recruiting a Security Officer for Churchill Square Shopping Centre in Brighton. The role is permanent, averaging 40 hours weekly on a rolling rota, at £13.88 per hour, with 28 days annual leave (pro‑rata for part‑time staff).

Full training and induction are provided, along with e‑learning to support development for all ABM colleagues. The successful candidate will patrol front and back of house, deter crime, perform health and safety checks, rotate static posts in the centre and car park,

• SIA licensed – Guarding or door supervisor badge preferred.

Responsibilities

• Patrol front and back of house areas.
• Deterrence and reporting of criminal behaviour.
• Conduct health and safety checks.
• Rotate static positions within the centre and car park.
• Carry out vacant unit checks.
• Refuse entry to known offenders.
• Support brand partners to manage incidents of antisocial or criminal behaviour.
• Report defects/spillages within the centre.
• Participate in training exercises to improve knowledge of site procedures.
• Support service partners to reinforce the site’s one‑team ethos.

Overview

This position is for a Security Officer working an average of 40 hours per week on a rolling rota at £13.88 per hour, with 28 days annual leave including public holidays (pro‑rata for part‑time workers). Full training and induction programme is provided alongside online e‑learning to support learning and development programmes for all ABM colleagues.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Person Specification

• Competent dealing with members of the public
• Level of health and safety awareness
• Good knowledge of security industry and systems
• Punctual
• Able to ensure all procedures are followed complying with legislation and company policy
• Maintain critical standards for professionalism, service, and quality assurance
• Adhere to new policies and procedures to ensure a respectful workplace exists

Essential
