Job summary

Honesty Group is seeking a Coffee Shop Assistant in Newbury/ Berkshire area. You will join a team focused on great coffee, handmade foods, and a welcoming space. This entry-level role offers full training and growth paths from assistant to supervisor and manager within a values-driven business.

You’ll support daily operations, help in food prep, manage stock tasks, and engage with customers to create a home-away-from-home feel in a community-focused cafe.

Responsibilities

• Serve coffee and freshly baked bread, cakes & pastries made by hand.

• Assist in food prep and monitor temperatures and safety.
• Take phone orders and support events when needed.
• Keep tables, floors, toilets and areas clean and welcoming.

Working Hours: This is a 28 HR contract

• Monday (07:30-15:30)
• Tuesday (07:30-15:30)
• Wednesday (07:00-14:00)
• Thursday 07:00-14:00)

What You’ll DoAs part of our team, you’ll help bring our vision to life every day:

• Serve exceptional coffee and freshly baked bread, cakes & pastries (all made by hand!)

• Look after customers chat, laugh, listen, make them feel at home

• Help in food prep, checking temperatures and food safety, following our high standards

• Support events, take phone orders, answer enquires

• Keep things clean and welcoming: tables, floors, toilets, indoor/outdoor areas

• Do stock work: take deliveries, rotate stock, display products, run fridge checks

• Help with end-of-day tasks: log waste, cash up, lock up

• Use our systems (laptop, Slack, email) to stay in the loop
