Job summary

Shillito Group is seeking an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join an established precision engineering business in Rotherham. The role involves programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines to produce high precision components from drawings.

You will edit programs, set tooling and offsets, and inspect own work to ensure first-off quality. Qualified candidates will have bar-feeding experience and familiarity with multi-axis turning, G-code or CAM-based programming, and tight

Shillito Group is recruiting an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join an established precision engineering business in Rotherham.

This is a programming and setting role, ideal for someone confident taking components from engineering drawings through to completed, inspected parts. Applications are also welcome from skilled CNC Turners with strong bar feeding experience who are looking to develop further in programming and setting.

You’ll work with modern CNC turning machinery, producing high precision components while taking ownership of programming, tooling, setting, inspection and process improvement.

The role

• Program, set and operate CNC turning machines

What we’re looking for

You’ll have previous CNC turning experience, ideally including programming and setting CNC lathes or turning centres. This is not an operator-only position, so you should be comfortable editing programs, setting tools and offsets, proving out jobs and inspecting your own work.

We are particularly keen to hear from CNC Turners with good bar-feeding experience.

Useful experience includes:

• Multi-axis CNC turning


• Bar-fed machining


• Driven or live tooling


• Small, complex or high-precision components


• G-code or CAM-based programming


• Working to tight tolerances


• Machining stainless steel, titanium, brass or engineering plastics

You should also be confident reading engineering drawings and using precision inspection equipment such as micrometres, verniers, callipers and gauges.
