Job summary

Kurt J. Lesker Company in St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex, is seeking a CNC Team Leader to guide a skilled team and drive precision manufacturing.

You will lead shifts, optimize multi-axis CNC operations, and ensure parts meet tight specifications while mentoring engineers and machinists. The role requires hands-on leadership, strong G/M-code expertise, and a solid CAM background, with a focus on Lean manufacturing and continuous process improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience leading a CNC team in a manufacturing environment.
• Proven CNC programming and machining on multi-axis machines.
• Strong CAM software knowledge (Delcam or Mastercam).
• Experience reading technical drawings and tolerances.
• Vacuum industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead CNC team across shifts and monitor daily performance.
• Write and edit CNC programs to meet production needs.
• Set up 3, 4, and 5 axis machines and verify parts.

Job description

Join the Kurt J. Lesker Company as a CNC Team Leader at our European Headquarters in St. Leonards-on-Sea, East Sussex.,

• Perform complex machining operations on CNC milling machines and read and understand G-code
• Mentor fellow employees to resolve complex machining problems
• Write and edit complex CNC programs to support production requirements providing optimum manufacturing cost and quality.
• Set and operate 3, 4, and 5 axis machines
• Read and understand Technical drawings
• Produce quality parts in a timely manner
• Verify conformance of finished workpieces to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
• Collaborate with machinists, Engineering, and Product/Production Management to solve problems and improve processes.
• Provide hands-on leadership/training for all team members across shifts for all stages and processes within the CNC department.
• Establish and maintain a safe working environment, reporting any safety concerns and preventative measures.
• Support the "Production Board" by monitoring the daily performance/execution to the routed hours, including quality product to specification and on time.
• Support management to conduct employee performance reviews, provide frequent constructive feedback to your team or report any performance concerns up to management where appropriate
• Identify and implement necessary team training and development to enhance and/or maintain team skill levels
• Other duties as assigned We're seeking a skilled individual with experience in CNC programming & machining, a strong understanding of CAM software, and a qualification in Mechanical Engineering. • Proven machining experience on CNC equipment or using CNC solid modeling (turning and milling)
• Delcam or MasterCam Programming experience
• Extensive knowledge of machine functions (G code, M code, Offsets, etc)
• Strong leadership and communication skills
