Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking a skilled CNC Programmer to join a precision engineering team near Folkestone, Kent. You will program, set up and run CNC milling and/or turning machines, interpreting drawings and ensuring tolerances are met.

You will work with various controllers and tools, with opportunities to train on new software and controllers, and contribute to high-quality component production in a growing business.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC programming experience.
• Experience on CNC milling and/or turning machines.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and inspect own work.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit CNC programs for milling and/or turning machines, at the machine and offline.
• Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce precision components to drawing and tolerance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and plan efficient machining processes.
• Select tooling, fixtures and cutting parameters to improve quality and cycle times.
• Inspect your own work using standard measuring equipment.
• Prove out new programs and carry out first-off checks.
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and housekeeping.

CNC Programmer / Setter Operator (Milling and/or Turning)

Location: Near Folkestone, Kent

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Job type: Full-time, permanent

About the role

A well-established precision engineering company is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join its team near Folkestone. You will programme, set up and run CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce high-quality precision components, working to engineering drawings and checking your own work to make sure tolerances are met. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on programmer who wants to develop their skills in a supportive, growing business, with training available on new controllers and software.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit CNC programs for milling and/or turning machines, at the machine and offline
• Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce precision components to drawing and tolerance

Essential requirements

• Proven CNC programming experience
• Experience on CNC milling and/or turning machines (we will consider candidates with experience in just one of these for the right person)
• Experience on at least one of these controllers: Heidenhain, Fanuc or Prototrak (training provided on the others)
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Able to inspect own work to ensure tolerances are correct
• A stable work history

Desirable

• Offline programming / CAM software experience (training available)
• Experience across more than one machine controller

Package

• Salary up to £40,000 per annum with premium overtime rates
