Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is supporting a well-established precision engineering company near Folkestone in their search for a skilled CNC Programmer to write, test and run milling and/or turning programs to tight tolerances.

You will set up machines, interpret engineering drawings and select tooling to optimise cycles while maintaining high quality, with training available on new controllers and software.

Qualifications

• Proven CNC programming experience.
• Experience on milling and/or turning machines.
• Experience with Heidenhain, Fanuc or Prototrak controllers.
• Ability to read engineering drawings.
• Able to inspect own work to verify tolerances.
• Stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Write and edit CNC programs for milling and/or turning machines, at the machine and offline.
• Set up and operate CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce precision components to drawing and tolerance.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and plan efficient machining processes.
• Select tooling, fixtures and cutting parameters to improve quality and cycle times.
• Inspect own work using standard measuring equipment.
• Prove out new programs and carry out first-off checks.
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and housekeeping.

CNC Programmer / Setter Operator (Milling and/or Turning)

Location: Near Folkestone, Kent

Salary: Up to £40,000 per annum

Job type: Full-time, permanent

About the role

A well-established precision engineering company is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join its team near Folkestone. You will programme, set up and run CNC milling and/or turning machines to produce high-quality precision components, working to engineering drawings and checking your own work to make sure tolerances are met. This is a great opportunity for a hands-on programmer who wants to develop their skills in a supportive, growing business, with training available on new controllers and software.

Key responsibilities

• Write and edit CNC programs for milling and/or turning machines, at the machine and offline

Essential requirements

• Proven CNC programming experience
• Experience on CNC milling and/or turning machines (we will consider candidates with experience in just one of these for the right person)
• Experience on at least one of these controllers: Heidenhain, Fanuc or Prototrak (training provided on the others)
• Ability to read engineering drawings
• Able to inspect own work to ensure tolerances are correct
• A stable work history

Desirable

• Offline programming / CAM software experience (training available)
• Experience across more than one machine controller
