Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd is recruiting a CNC Programmer for a contract role in Cambridge. You will programme, set and operate CNC turning machines to manufacture high-precision components for aerospace and defence sectors.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience as a CNC Turner, be able to read engineering drawings, and perform in-process inspections while maintaining safety and quality standards. This long-term contract offers a stable, modern manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner.
• Able to independently programme, set and operate CNC lathes.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience machining complex components to tight tolerances.
• Able to work with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines.
• Manufacturing precision-engineered components to tight tolerances.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carrying out in-process inspections to ensure quality standards.
• Making tooling and offset adjustments as required.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Working closely with the production team to meet customer deadlines.

Pay Rate: Up to £30.00 per hour Ltd
Job Type: Contract

Shift Pattern: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Essential Requirements – CNC Programmer

Desirable Experience – CNC Programmer

• Experience with Matsuura, Haas or Doosan machines.
• Knowledge of Fanuc controls.
• Experience operating Twin-Spindle Lathes.
• Previous experience within the Aerospace or Defence sectors.
