Job summary

Orion Electrotech Ltd in Ely seeks an experienced CNC Turner Programmer/Setter/Operator to join the precision engineering team. You will programme, set and operate CNC lathes to produce high-spec components for demanding Aerospace and Defence projects.

The role requires reading drawings, interpreting tolerances and performing in-process inspections to ensure quality and on-time delivery in a modern manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner.
• Ability to independently programme, set and operate CNC lathes.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining complex components to tight tolerances.

Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines.
• Manufacturing precision-engineered components to tight tolerances.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carrying out in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Making tooling and offset adjustments as required.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Working closely with the production team to meet customer deadlines.

CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator
Location: Ely
Pay Rate: Up to £30.00 per hour Ltd
Hours: Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Our client is a well-established precision engineering company serving the Aerospace and Defence sectors. Due to continued growth and a strong order book, they are looking to recruit an experienced CNC Turner Programmer / Setter / Operator to join their manufacturing team in Ely.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and steadily expanding business, producing high-precision components for demanding industries where quality and accuracy are paramount.

Key Responsibilities

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machines.
• Manufacturing precision-engineered components to tight tolerances.
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
• Carrying out in-process inspections to ensure quality standards are met.
• Making tooling and offset adjustments as required.
• Maintaining high standards of safety, quality and housekeeping.
• Working closely with the production team to meet customer deadlines.

Essential Requirements

• Proven experience as a CNC Turner.
• Ability to independently programme, set and operate CNC lathes.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and geometric tolerances.
• Experience machining complex components to tight tolerances.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Desirable Experience

• Experience with Matsuura, Haas or Doosan machines.
• Knowledge of Fanuc controls.
• Experience operating Twin-Spindle Lathes.
• Previous experience within the Aerospace or Defence sectors.
