Job summary

Masstemps Ltd is recruiting an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join a busy manufacturing operation near the Wednesbury area. You will operate, set and program CNC milling machines to produce cast components to specification, and read engineering drawings.

The role requires safe handling of castings, tool changes, in-process and final inspections with precision measuring equipment, and adherence to 5S standards. Working hours are 07:00–16:00 Monday to Thursday and 07:00–12:00 Friday.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC milling machines in manufacturing or foundry environments.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience with precision measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges).

Responsibilities

• Set up, program and operate CNC milling machines to produce cast components.
• Load and unload castings safely using lifting equipment.
• Perform tool changes, offsets and basic program edits.
• Carry out in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment.
• Maintain 5S standards and complete production documentation.
• Support continuous improvement to boost productivity and quality.

Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced

CNC Milling Machinistto join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the

Wednesburyarea.

THE ROLE

• Operate, set and program CNC Milling machines to produce cast components to specification
• Load and unload castings safely, using lifting equipment where required
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and CNC programs
• Carry out tool changes, offsets, and basic program edits to ensure dimensional accuracy
• Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)
• dentify and correct machining issues to maintain quality and minimise scrap
• Ensure machines are operated safely and in line with company and foundry health & safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with 5S standards
• Complete production documentation, quality checks, and traceability records
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience operating CNC machines within a manufacturing or foundry environment
• Understanding of machining cast iron or other ferrous/non-ferrous materials
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Knowledge of CNC controls (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain - advantageous)
• Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness of health & safety practices in a heavy industrial environment
• Willingness to work shifts where required
