Masstemps is currently recruiting an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join a busy manufacturing company near the Wednesbury area. You will operate, set and program CNC milling machines to produce cast components to specification and read engineering drawings.

The role requires reading tolerances, using precision measuring equipment, carrying out tool changes, and maintaining quality and safety on the shop floor.

Qualifications

• Experience operating CNC milling machines in manufacturing or foundry environments.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Experience using precision measuring equipment.
• Knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain) is advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Operate, set and program CNC Milling machines to produce cast components to specification.
• Load and unload castings safely using lifting equipment.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and CNC programs.
• Carry out tool changes, offsets, and basic program edits to ensure dimensional accuracy.
• Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges).
• Identify and correct machining issues to maintain quality and minimise scrap.
• Ensure machines are operated safely and in line with health & safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area in accordance with 5S standards.
• Complete production documentation, quality checks, and traceability records.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity and quality.

THE ROLE

• Load and unload castings safely, using lifting equipment where required
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, work instructions, and CNC programs
• Carry out tool changes, offsets, and basic program edits to ensure dimensional accuracy
• Perform in-process and final inspections using measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, gauges)

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience operating CNC machines within a manufacturing or foundry environment
• Understanding of machining cast iron or other ferrous/non-ferrous materials
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances
• Experience using precision measuring equipment
• Knowledge of CNC controls (e.g. Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain - advantageous)
• Understanding of cutting tools, speeds, and feeds
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Awareness of health & safety practices in a heavy industrial environment
• Willingness to work shifts where required

HOURS OF WORK

07:00AM - 16:00PM MONDAY TO THURSDAY

07:00AM - 12:00PM FRIDAY

PAY RATE

£12.71 - £18.00ph (depending on experience)
