Job summary

Masstemps Ltd is seeking an experienced Laser Operator to join a busy manufacturing site near the Wednesbury area. The role focuses on setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines, preparing tooling and programs, and ensuring parts meet exact specifications.

You will read engineering drawings, adjust cutting parameters, monitor the process, and perform quality checks with basic measuring equipment. A reliable, team-oriented candidate is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Familiarity with Bodor and/or TRUMPF laser systems is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set and operate CNC laser cutting machines to produce components per customer specs.
• Prepare machines for production: load materials, select programmes, tooling, and settings.
• Read and work from drawings, job sheets, and production specs.
• Load and select CNC programmes; adjust cutting parameters as needed.
• Monitor laser cutting process; adjust to maintain quality and minimise waste.
• Inspect finished components using basic measuring tools to ensure spec conformance.
• Identify and report machine issues, tooling problems or quality defects to supervisor.

Masstemps is currently recruiting for an experienced

Laser Operatorto join a well-established and busy manufacturing company based near the

Wednesburyarea.

THE ROLE

• Set and operate CNC laser cutting machines to produce components to customer specifications.
• Prepare machines for production, including loading materials, selecting the correct programmes, tooling and machine settings.
• Read and work from engineering drawings, job sheets and production specifications.
• Load and select the correct CNC programmes and make basic adjustments to cutting parameters and machine settings where required.
• Monitor the laser cutting process, making adjustments where necessary to maintain quality and minimise waste.
• Inspect finished components using basic measuring equipment to ensure they meet drawing and specification requirements.
• Identify and report machine issues, tooling problems or quality defects to the relevant supervisor or maintenance team.

ABOUT YOU

• Previous experience setting and operating CNC laser cutting machines.
• Bodor and/or TRUMPF laser experience is highly desirable, with both preferred.
• Able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience working with different material types and thicknesses within a sheet-metal or fabrication environment.
• Comfortable making basic machine setting and parameter adjustments.
• Experience carrying out quality checks using verniers, micrometres or other basic measuring equipment.
• Good understanding of safe working practices within a manufacturing environment.
• Reliable, practical and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Previous experience working with CNC machinery, press brakes, guillotines or other sheet-metal machinery would be advantageous.

Mon - Thur 06:00am – 12:30pm

Fri - 06:30am - 11:30am

PAY RATE

£13.25 - £15.00ph depending on experience and skills.
