Job summary

Contek Recruitment Solutions Ltd is seeking an experienced CNC Miller for a full-time, permanent role in Reading, Berkshire. You will set up and operate CNC milling machines to produce low-volume, high-variance parts to strict quality standards.

You will work with Hurco or XYZ milling machines (ProtoTRAK/WinMax/Siemens controls), reading engineering drawings, and inspecting parts with standard measuring tools to ensure accuracy and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Experience as CNC Machinist / CNC Miller.
• Experience operating Hurco or XYZ milling machines.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
• Background in producing low-volume, high-precision tooling or fixtures is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Set up, program (or edit), and operate CNC milling machines to produce bespoke fixture parts.
• Work with Hurco or XYZ milling machines (ProtoTRAK/WinMax/Siemens controls).
• Read and interpret engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Inspect finished parts with vernier calipers, micrometers and height gauges to ensure accuracy.
• Meet production schedules while maintaining high quality.

Location: Reading, Berkshire

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Pay Rate: £16.00 - £18.00 per hour (depending on experience)

Hours: 40 hours per week - Mon to Thurs (7:30 - 4:30) & Fri (7:30 - 2)

About the Company

The company is a leading specialist in designing and manufacturing high-quality test fixtures and bespoke engineered solutions. Due to continued growth and demand, we are looking for a skilled CNC Miller to join their dedicated manufacturing team in Reading.

The Role

In this position, you will be key to manufacturing high-precision components and custom parts for their range of engineered fixtures. You will take ownership of setting and operating CNC milling machines to produce low-volume, high-variety parts to strict quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Setting, programming (or editing), and operating CNC Milling machines to manufacture bespoke fixture parts.
• Working with Hurco or XYZ milling machines (ProtoTRAK / WinMax / Siemens controls).
• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Inspecting finished components using standard measuring equipment (verniers, micrometers, height gauges) to ensure precision.
• Working efficiently to meet production schedules while maintaining high quality.

What We Are Looking For

• Experience: Proven hands-on experience as a CNC Machinist / CNC Miller.
• Machining Skills: Experience operating either XYZ (ProtoTRAK) or Hurco CNC milling machines.
• Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and work confidently from engineering drawings.
• Background: Prior experience producing low-volume, high-precision tooling, fixtures, or components is highly desirable.
• Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, pride in your work, and a self-motivated attitude.
